Pride in Liverpool
Pride in Liverpool is a unique project because it is aimed at everyone. There is no qualifying or disqualifying status. The only requirement is an interest in the city.
The aim and objectives are to encourage and facilitate people to look at their neighbourhoods and take a pride in it. To achieve this we are encouraging them to look closely at what the area where they live and see what lies within it. Liverpool is full of history and was initially made up of numerous villages, so there are many examples of the past within each area.
Our mission is to facilitate all involved to be inspired and enjoy the fun of exploring their neighbourhood. The year of the European Capital of Culture gave us an opportunity to be proud and this project is about continuing that trend and increases the reasons to have pride in our City. This is about Liverpool people, the past the future. 2009 is the year of the Environment and 2010 is the year of Health & Well Being and the intention is to make improvements in the quality of our city and our lives. We intend -
- To develop a greater understanding of the areas we live in.
- Create informal learning processes.
- Bring communities together and improve confidence and well being.
- Discover creativity and inspiration for further development
- Develop and secure the feeling of ‘belonging and contributing’.
- Establishing a drop in centre/phone link for response to any questions.
The legacy is the website – a living legacy – www.prideinliverpool.org.uk
We will also produce an encyclopaedia, a book of memories and a book of myths.
We are having an exhibition in St.George's Hall from the 5th - 9th July 2010 to show all the projects that the groups have put together. Also to showcase Liverpool and all it has to offer - entertainment, business, services. An opportunity for everyone.
