Opal Property Group develops, owns and operates value added student accommodation; professional residential properties, 2 hotels and a purpose built Conference Centre, a portfolio worth over £1 billion.

Opal Property Group provides accommodation for 18,000 students throughout 14 towns and cities across the UK and boasts partnerships with over 20 academic institutions.  In 2009, Opal was the Winner of the National Student Housing Survey Best Private Halls Provider Award.  2009 saw the Opal Property Group complete 2,000 student bed spaces in London, Nottingham, and Sheffield.  Further bedspaces are in the pipeline in Dundee, Nottingham and Exeter.

Opal pioneered the inclusion of broadband internet access in every student bedroom; and leisure suites, including swimming pools, into their accommodation.  Opal was the first provider to increase the range of student accommodation to include larger rooms with double beds, as well as self-contained studio apartments.

The group expanded its portfolio in 2001 to include the 4* The Place Apartment Hotel and in 2008, acquired Manchester Conference Centre and 3* Days Hotel.

Opal has a history of charitable activities within the community in which it operates; the Opal Foundation was founded to support children and young people – to give them opportunities that they may not ordinarily be given, which will ultimately enrich and add value to their lives.

Why we love Mankey Monkey

We love Mankey Monkey because he’s fun and we have the choice of designing our own.  By supporting Mankey Monkey we are both promoting the company but more importantly supporting the Alder Hey Imagine appeal.  We’ve had a lot of laughs just thinking of designs for our Monkey Monkey; however we’ve decided to take the intellectual approach to support and promote education.  Ours will be a Darwin Monkey to celebrate his 150th birthday and 100 years since he wrote “Origin of the Species”.
